Mel Street was an American country music singer-songwriter. Born in Grundy, Virginia in 1935, Street began his music career in the 1960s and gained popularity in the 1970s with hits like "Borrowed Angel" and "Lovin' on Back Streets". He was known for his smooth baritone voice and traditional country sound.
Street released several albums throughout his career and had multiple top ten hits on the country music charts. In addition to his solo career, he also wrote songs for other artists and collaborated with well-known musicians such as Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard.
Sadly, Street's career was cut short when he passed away in 1978 at the age of 43. Despite his untimely death, his music continues to be remembered and appreciated by country music fans.
